In August we are very excited to be teaming up with Concrete Jungle for our members meet up.
We are still confirming location and timing details but please put the 20th August in you diary.
Concrete Jungle Earthships is an organisation of people of all ages, from different cultural and social backgrounds, with different skills and social networks. They are all currently loving and living in South London, consciously striving towards the growth of a conscious community concerned about its sustainability and future.
In their view one of the main problems within our society is its limitless production of wastes within a world with limited resources and Concrete Jungle want to prove that it is possible to live and think differently, notably by proposing the construction of the first Earthship in London by the community and for the community!
What is an Earthship?
An Earthship is a low-impact sustainable building that is made out of ‘rubbish’ – mainly car tyres, cans and bottles – which reduces the use of concrete, damaging to the environment, by nearly 80%. The building design incorporates it’s own energy production, rain water harvesting and filtration, food production, sewage treatment and thermal mass/passive-solar heating and cooling.
If you can’t wait until August and aren’t already coming on our Steps to Sustainability walk this Saturday then join Concrete Jungle for a night of music and dancing after Lambeth County Fair in support of their Earthship Build this October.
