The summer of change festival – it starts with you

You are invited to The Summer of Change Festival at The Canvas Café, Shoreditch Thursday 3 August – Sunday 13 August www.thecanvascafe.org/festival

With the festival season in full swing but the country is in a period of transition and in some cases battling with confusion and conflict over a multiple number of issues. Race crime has grown astronomically and there is an air of fear and mistrust, creating unfair division centred around race, social status, religion, and sexuality. Many people feel they are powerless to make a difference. The Summer of Change festival aims to counter act all of these complex feelings and bring people together under one festival tent in the heart of London, and to empower each person to make a change, however big or small.

This ground-breaking event takes place in a magical indoor, fairy-lit tent and will unite organisations such as Action for Happiness, Love Stop Cafe, Mindapples, peace artist / activist Milan Rai and his white butterflies for peace. Each speaker and contributor will bring exciting topics or interactive workshops to the audience to create a positive activist movement. Owner of The Canvas Café, Ruth Rogers says: “I’ve lived in London since 2007 and chose to open The Canvas, because it’s a place that celebrates creativity and new ideas. London’s a city where positivity can flourish – and I think the world needs positivity right now more than ever. This festival is offering each visitor the chance to genuinely change themselves and their world for the better.

Co-organiser of the Change Festival, Karen Stenning from Absolute Alchemy, explains the journey intended for each guest: “Change really does start with you, so the festival includes personal development sessions such as yoga and mindfulness, 5Rhythms dance and art, to open up visitors’ experience to the simple ways they can feel calmer, happier, and more in control. Then, they choose their journey: do they want to help create a happier world; help influence global positive change; engage with their community more; build more green, open spaces in their towns and cities?.

The Summer of Change Festival opens on 3rd August and runs 10am-11pm from Thursday-Sunday for 2 weeks. Tickets are available for individual sessions, or you can purchase an All-Day Pass. Each ticket includes with free drinks, food, and entertainment options. For ticket information and programme details: www.thecanvascafe.org/festival
